Why were my tickets reissued?

Tickets are sometimes reissued by the venue or event organizer. When this happens, your tickets may be automatically updated or replaced. These changes are controlled by the venue and are outside of SeatGeek’s ability to modify or prevent.

Venues occasionally reissue tickets for operational, security, or logistical reasons. When tickets are reissued, your updated tickets will typically be delivered automatically to your SeatGeek account or the third-party platform hosting your tickets.

If any steps are needed to access your updated tickets, SeatGeek will contact you with instructions.

Why were my tickets reissued but still the same seats?

Venues sometimes reissue tickets as a precaution or for administrative reasons, even if the seat location does not change.

This commonly happens when:

  • An event is rescheduled
  • The venue refreshes ticket barcodes for security
  • Tickets are reissued for accounting or record-keeping purposes

When this occurs, your reissued tickets will usually have the same section, row, and seat numbers as your original order.

Why are my reissued tickets different from my original seats?

In some situations, the venue may issue replacement tickets in a different location than your original seats.

This most commonly happens when:

  • The event is moved to a different venue
  • The seating configuration changes
  • The venue adjusts the layout for safety or production reasons

When new seats are issued, the venue will generally assign tickets that provide a similar overall value or viewing experience.

Common reasons venues change seating

Seating changes can happen for many logistical reasons, including:

  • Production equipment or stage changes
    • Example: Additional sound or filming equipment placed in the seating area
    • Example: New lighting or stage design requiring certain seats to be removed
  • Physical changes to the venue seating area
    • Example: Seats being repaired or replaced
    • Example: Construction or safety updates within the venue
  • Changes to GA, pit, VIP, or performer areas
    • Example: Expanding a GA section that replaces assigned seating
    • Example: Increasing security space near the stage

Do I need to do anything if my tickets were reissued?

Maybe. Updated tickets are sometimes delivered automatically to your account, in which case you don't need to take action. If new physical tickets need to be sent or if you must take any steps to accept updated electronic tickets, SeatGeek will contact you with instructions.
