Two-factor authentication (2FA) is an optional security feature that adds an extra verification step when signing in to your SeatGeek account. After entering your password, you will be asked for a one-time verification code sent to your phone or generated by an authentication app.
Enabling two-factor authentication helps protect your SeatGeek account from unauthorized access. Even if someone knows your password, they will not be able to sign in without the verification code from your phone or authentication app.
Why should I enable two-factor authentication?
Tickets stored in your SeatGeek account can be valuable, and protecting your account helps ensure only you can access them.
Two-factor authentication adds a second layer of security by requiring:
-
Something you know: your account password
-
Something you have: a one-time verification code
This makes it much harder for someone else to access your account even if your password is exposed elsewhere.
How to enable two-factor authentication
You can enable two-factor authentication from the Security section of your SeatGeek account settings.
- Sign in to your SeatGeek account on the desktop website.
- Open the Security tab in your account settings.
- Select the option to enable Two-Factor Authentication.
- Choose your preferred verification method.
Once enabled, you will be prompted for a verification code each time you sign in on any device, including desktop, mobile web, iPhone, and Android.
Currently, security settings such as enabling or updating 2FA must be managed from the SeatGeek desktop website.
Which verification method should I use?
SeatGeek supports two methods for receiving your two-factor authentication codes.
SMS verification
A one-time code is sent to your phone by text message each time you sign in.
Authentication app
You can also use an authentication app that supports time-based one-time passwords (TOTP), such as:
- Google Authenticator
- Authy
When setting up this method, you will scan a QR code with the authentication app. The app will then generate a new verification code whenever you open it.
What happens if I lose my phone?
When you enable two-factor authentication, SeatGeek provides a backup code that allows you to emergency disable 2FA if you lose access to your phone.
It is very important to download and store this backup code in a safe place.
We recommend printing the backup code and keeping it somewhere secure so you can still access your account if your phone is lost or replaced.
If you cannot access your verification code or backup code, please contact SeatGeek support for assistance restoring access to your account.

Can I enable 2FA with an international phone number?
Yes. SeatGeek supports phone numbers from most countries.
If your country is not supported, you may still be able to use an authentication app instead of SMS verification.
