What is an Access Code?

An access code is a special code that allows you to unlock certain ticket listings for a specific event. Access codes are commonly used for presales or special ticket offers before tickets are available to the general public.

Most events on SeatGeek do not require an access code. However, some events may use access codes to provide early or restricted access to certain tickets.

Access codes and their related terms, eligibility, and processes are typically created and distributed by the event promoter, venue, performer, sponsor, or fan club. SeatGeek generally does not create or distribute access codes unless explicitly stated.

Types of access codes

Presale access codes

Presale access codes allow eligible fans to purchase tickets before the public on-sale begins.

These codes are commonly provided to:

  • Fan club members
  • Season ticket holders
  • Credit card partner programs
  • Email subscribers of artists, venues, or sponsors

If you qualify for a presale, you will usually receive the code directly from the organization offering the presale.

Special inventory access codes

Some events provide access codes that unlock special ticket inventory for a limited audience.

This may include:

  • Promotional ticket offers
  • Reserved ticket blocks
  • Sponsor or partner ticket access

How to use an access code

If you have an access code for an event, you can use it directly on the event page.

  1. Search for the event on SeatGeek
  2. Select the presale or ticket option associated with your access code

    Presale selector screen

  3. Enter your access code when prompted

    Access code entry screen

  4. Click Apply to view the tickets available for that code

Once the code is applied, you will see the eligible ticket listings unlocked by that access code.

Access code vs promo code

Access codes and promo codes serve different purposes.

An access code unlocks access to certain tickets for a specific event. It allows you to view and purchase tickets that are not available to the general public.

A promo code provides a discount at checkout. Promo codes are typically entered during payment and reduce the price of your order.

To learn more about promo codes, see: How to use a promo code.

Why isn't my access code working?

If your access code is not working, check the following:

  • Correct event and date: Some codes only work for specific event dates or performances.
  • Presale timing: Many codes only work during specific presale windows and will not work before the sale begins.
  • Ticket limits: Some codes limit the number of tickets that can be purchased.
  • Code entered first: Access codes usually unlock a separate set of ticket listings. Make sure you apply the code before selecting tickets.
  • Correct Payment method: In case your payment method fails, double check the payment restrictions related to your offer. Access codes provided by your credit card company will require the use of the associated eligible card to complete the purchase.

Note: Access code specific payment methods required will not be eligible to use through Apple Pay.
