1099-K forms are tax forms used to report earnings that are not wages, salaries, or tips. If you have sold tickets on SeatGeek and reached total gross sales exceed $20,000 or more or 200 or more sales on SeatGeek in a single year, you will receive a 1099-K form from our payment processor partner in the mail or via email.
SeatGeek uses Stripe to handle our tax reporting. If you're eligible for a 1099-K tax form, Stripe will email you when your tax information is ready. The email will include a link to Stripe Express, where you can quickly access your tax form. Just enter your email address and the 6-digit SMS verification code Stripe will send to your phone number.
Please note, SeatGeek cannot provide tax advice or assistance on Gains and Losses. For more information, we encourage you to visit the IRS website and consult with your tax advisor. State taxes and tax thresholds vary. Please consult your state tax authority and check out Stripe's state tax requirements info page.
What is Stripe Express and why did I receive a link?

As a seller on SeatGeek, Stripe Express offers you a secure dashboard where you can verify your identity and taxpayer information, keep your details up to date, and view or download your tax form when it's ready. Using Stripe Express ensures your data is encrypted, accurate, and available for self‑serve access, which helps prevent delays or corrections in your reporting.
The link you received from Stripe Express will navigate you to your secure dashboard.
What should I do if I believe my 1099-K form is incorrect?
If you believe your 1099-K form is incorrect, first, you should note that 1099-K forms will reflect the date you received your payout(s) and not the date of the event.
If you still have reason to believe there is, or may be, an error on your 1099-K form, please follow these steps:
- Verify the reported amounts on the form against your records.
- Check if the discrepancies are due to seller fees, which are included in the gross total of the sale as required by the IRS.
- If you still believe there is an error, contact our support team with specific details about the discrepancy.
Why are seller fees included in my 1099-K form?
The IRS requires that seller fees be included in the gross total of the sale. This means that the fees SeatGeek takes out are considered part of the total amount reported on your 1099-K form.

I didn’t meet the Federal threshold, why am I receiving a 1099-K form?
If you received a 1099-K without meeting the Federal threshold, that means that your sales activity on SeatGeek meets your state’s mandatory reporting threshold. Your state’s legislation requires us to file a 1099-K with your activity for the tax year.
How can I claim expenses as deductions?
We recommend consulting a licensed tax professional for detailed advice on claiming expenses as deductions.
How do I get a tax form as a Canadian seller?
SeatGeek only issues U.S. 1099‑K tax forms to eligible U.S. sellers. If you're a Canadian seller, you generally won't receive a 1099‑K form from SeatGeek. Please consult a local tax professional for guidance on your tax reporting obligations.
The 1099-K form for my family's season tickets came to me erroneously. What should I do?
If the 1099-K form was issued to you instead of another family member, you can update the tax information in Stripe Express.
