What happens if my MLB game is canceled, postponed, or rained out?

Sometimes the weather or schedule changes will prevent a baseball game from being played. Thankfully, when they are rescheduled, oftentimes, your tickets will be valid for the rescheduled date.

If your game is canceled and not rescheduled, SeatGeek will follow Club and MLB Policies, subject to applicable state laws. You will receive an email with details about your options under SeatGeek’s Buyer Guarantee.

There is no need to reach out to our customer experience team in this case, our team will reach out to you as soon as we can.

If you cannot attend the rescheduled date, you can resell your ticket on the SeatGeek Marketplace to try and recoup your funds. Click here for instructions on how to list your tickets for sale.

What about rained-out games?

With baseball there is a high likelihood that weather will play a factor in the scheduling of games. This means MLB games are more likely to experience what is known as a rainout.

When a rainout occurs the affected game can either be delayed/postponed, canceled, or rescheduled. If the event is postponed or delayed due to weather, the game is usually played later that same day, once the weather clears.

If the venue is requiring an exchange of tickets in order to attend the rescheduled event, please contact us by scrolling down and tapping Contact Support while viewing your order in the SeatGeek app. Click here to see how

What happens if I have tickets for a playoff or World Series game that doesn’t happen?

Oftentimes in a best of 5 or best of 7 series, we will have a listing for a TBD or If Necessary game. If you purchased your tickets on SeatGeek and the series ends before that game was scheduled to take place, SeatGeek will automatically contact you regarding your refund options after we have confirmation from the team.
